Rick Hadfield started drawing and painting from a very early age. He grew up in Stockport, Cheshire and continued his interest in art all through school and sixth form. He completed a one year foundation course in art and design at Stockport College but took it no further at that time.
In 1987 life and full time employment meant that painting took a back seat. It became a part-time hobby, but still generated commissions, mainly for portraits. He still harboured a desire to learn and create and in 1995 he moved to live in Norfolk. The turning point for him came in 2008, when he turned 40 years old. He decided to embrace art more and yet full time employment restricted him.
In 2001 he completed a Level 2 Diploma in art and design at Art Academy East, to loosen up and learn new skills. Just recently he has decided to leave full time employment and concentrate 100% on his art.
This is his first solo exhibition.
