Fairisle Workshop and Islesburgh Toorie Knitalong

Have you always wanted to knit a fairisle pattern, but never quite had the courage? This is your chance to learn how to do stranded colour work, while at the same knitting yourself the latest Shetland Wool Week hat – the Islesburgh Toorie, a rather wonderful pattern which includes some rams heads.

On Saturday 1 June 2024, the Knit, Crochet and Stitch Group will be casting a the Islesburgh Toorie hat as part of the Shetland Wool Week celebrations. They will start at 2 in the afternoon, but we are also running a morning workshop where you will choose your colours, look at the pattern, cast it on and learn how to manage knitting with two colours at the same time and in the round and how to knit following a chart.

The workshop will run for 3 hours and will be facilitated by knitter extraordinaire, Mandy, who will show you how to manage the yarns and give you useful hints and tips. If you want to stay for the afternoon session and show off your skills, you will be most welcome.

Times: 1Fairisle Workshop – June 2024 10am to 1pm and Islesburgh Toorie Knitalong 1 June 2pm – 4pm

Cost: £60 including pattern, needles and Jamieson & Smith Shetland wool. You can book your place here.

If you are participating in the knitalong rather than the workshop, you will get a 10% discount on the yarn. You will need to get your pattern here.
