Easter is early this year, and has caught me on the hop. I had all sorts of plans for a lovely Easter window in the shop which have now gone out of the window as it were – although I have managed to complete Frida the Emotional Support Chicken with whom I am very pleased. She only took a couple of days to knit and made a nice break from my various other projects. It fits well with my last post on Emotional Knitting too! I am still slogging very slowly through the cable knit and the second of a pair of socks I have been knitting since last year. Not to mention the Dustland Shawl which might get a row a day if I am lucky and have a moment in the shop and the duckling I started a few weeks ago. As with many of you, the garden calls me in my spare time and knitting takes slightly second place.

I won’t be sorry to see the back of March to be honest. I love the longer days that come when the clocks go forward (as they do on Saturday 30th). For the first time in years I feel vaguely on top of the garden and I look forward to being able to sit in it occasionally, perhaps with one of those unfinished projects.
What I am doing is planning for the Spring and Summer in the shop. I have stocked up on a range of lovely yarns for the summer from Malabrigo, Lang and West Yorkshire Spinners. As well as our ongoing workshops, we are putting on Lace Knitting workshop on 13th April – the idea is to knit a summery lace scarf in the light-as-air Lang Noelle that has just come into the shop. The 3 hour course will allow you to start the project and get your head around reading lace patterns and charts. It will be run by the talented Mandy who is currently test knitting the scarf. You can book here if you are interested. In May we hope to run a course in crocheting amigurumi – the Japanese art of crocheting small animals. We are in planning mode and have not yet set a date, but if you are interested, keep an eye open and we will announce it on here and social media.

The shop is open on Good Friday and Saturday and we will be sharing hot cross buns on Saturday afternoon with anyone who cares to pop in for a chat and a knit.
Happy Easter!
