Ananas
The basis of Ananas yarn is the pineapple leaf fibre. It is obtained from the leaves of pineapples that would normally be discarded as waste and burned. The process of producing the fibres saves up to 6kg of CO2 per kilo of fibres as well as producing an additional income stream for farmers who can now sell leaves that would otherwise go to waste. The fibres are prepared without the use of bleach and an enzyme is employed during washing to remove impurities so no harmful chemicals are required. The pineapple fibre is then combined with Lyocell to ensure stability and give an elegant sheen making the yarn perfect for light weight summer projects.
