Those of you who see my social media might have gathered by now that we have introduced the brand CaMaRose to our range of yarns. We have started with their most famous yarn, Snefnug, but we will be expanding out and ordering other ranges.

We started with Snefnug in part because it is so well known. It features in several Petite Knit patterns and I have recently had people coming asking for it. In addition, it is very hard to substitute as I do not think there is anything exactly like it. It is an aran weight yarn, meaning that it is usually knitted with 4.5 to 5mm needles and it is a blend of extrafine merino and baby alpaca blown around a core of organic cotton. This means that it is a light and airy yarn, hence its name which translates as Snowflake. It is VERY soft. CaMaRose insisted that we start with at least half their range, so we have around 30 different colours and all gorgeous. It took us some time to find somewhere to put it all, but we like a challenge here in the shop.

CaMaRose is a small Danish family run company. The founder, Trine Bertelsen, wanted to sell yarn that could not be found anywhere else, that was sustainably sourced and still reasonably priced. She started by importing wool from Peru, but in 2015 she changed her focus and renamed the company to reflect the names of all three of her children, who she says are her inspiration and her motivation. She still sources most of her wool from Peru, and the yarns are spun in Italy.
In addition to the Snefnug, I am thinking about stocking the Midnatssol which is a laceweight fluff, but instead of the usual mohair/silk it is a blend of baby alpaca, merino and lyocell. It is also very soft and the lyocell gives it a lovely sheen. They also have a rather lovely linen, Lovetand and a 4ply merino/alpaca blend, Lovfald, that I am interested in. However, if you want me to stock any of their other ranges, or to get in any of their patterns, please let me know.
I have started to knit a Petite Knit Sophie Hood with the Snefnug and I can confirm that it is a lovely yarn to knit with. My friend Ulli has already nearly finished the Petite Knit Ivy Sweater and tells me that she loves it so much she is thinking of knitting another one. As I said, I am delighted to have added this yarn to our range and hope you will enjoy it too.
