I cannot quite believe that November is here. My grandma used to say that time goes quicker as you get older and it seems she was right. I think also that the summer was so long, and the weather is still relatively mild, so it feels as though it should not be so near the end of the year. Here we are, however and this blog is just about what we are doing in the shop over the next month.
Firstly, we have the usual Social Stitchers sessions:
Tuesday 3rd: 11am to 1pm
Tuesday 10th: 2 to 4pm
Saturday 14th: 2 to 4pm
Of course there will, as always, be people here chatting and stitching on Saturday afternoons from 2-4pm throughout the month as well. You are all most welcome to join us.

There are still places left on the Introduction to Knitting course on 7 November if you are interested. This is a three hour course from 10am to 1pm during which you will learn, or be reminded how to cast on, knit, purl and bind off. You can book your place here, if you wish. This is the last course we are doing this year. We start next year’s courses in January with a slightly different format – we are going back to the one hour sessions over three consecutive weeks because we think that the learning outcomes are better and the classes less tiring. We are offering beginners knitting, beginners crochet and knitting socks on double pointed needles. We have also set up a couple of Fair Isle knitting courses, one in March and one in August.

The highlight of the month for me, however, will be celebrating our 5th birthday on 28 November. 5 years! We would like to celebrate with you, our amazing customers, so we have arranged for Blue Fern Yarns to do an all day pop up shop, and there will be an all day Social Stitchers session, complete with refreshments and, of course, cake. We very much hope that you will come and join us. I believe the party is coinciding with the Christmas Light switch on in Fakenham which is always a cheerful occasion.
And then we will be in December and running up to Christmas! How did that happen? We do not have much planned for December, except that we are proposing a Christmas Cast On event on the afternoon of Saturday 19 December – the idea is that many people spend the run up to Christmas frantically knitting for other people and this will give you the opportunity to cast on something fun for yourself to carry you through the Christmas period. We will also be open (unusually) on the 29th and 30th and again we are planning to host a Social Stitchers session on the 29th for people who might want to escape family or are looking for a bit of light hearted chatter. Let me know whether you might be interested.
I am always surprised by how busy we are when I write these blogs! I hope to see you at one or more of the events. And if you have any suggestions for workshops or events going forward, they would be most welcome.
